€20.00
Recorded live within the immersive audio installation 16.1 Sonómetro, as part of the II Architecture and Listening Festival: Resonant Spaces, on April 25, 2025, at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, Santiago, Chile.
All sounds used were recorded within the infrastructure and mines of the former Lota Coal Company, Biobío Region, Chile. These sounds are part of the research project “Aural Architecture of Modern Chilean Ruins: Acoustic Archaeology of Industrial Architectural Heritage in the Case of the Quinta Bella Site and the Former Lota Coal Mine,” funded by the Chilean Government’s Cultural Fund in 2025.

The sounds were spatialized live by Sofía Balbontín Gallo and Mathias Klenner Rouliez. Both tracks were recorded in third-order Ambisonics format and then converted to binaural audio. Sonometer is an installation created by the Espacios Resonantes collective, consisting of a spherical space inspired by industrial gasometers, designed to produce concentric acoustic reflections. This reverberant space houses a 16.1 spatialization system around its perimeter, inspired by Stockhausen’s Kugelauditorium, specifically developed for creating aural architectures through multichannel surround sound.
